She has made an empire being both, a victim and a snake, and has found her market of similar minded people (hardcore Swifties are the worst). She thrives in being controversial and the more questionable she is, the harder the Swifties push, either way she wins, she can cry victim and sell even more from it.

Could you please tell me at what point in history art was not aimed at a consumer of some kind? Even if it was only just a King or maybe the rest of the tribe? Cave art maybe? Maybe? As for Swift her Wikipedia bio says she was already working the Nashville music scene with her parents by the time she was 11 years old. I could be wrong but the lived experience of most 11 year olds does not usually bring a lot to the table as far as insight goes, nor does someone edging into stardom/superstardom in their late teens grow into an independent intellectual icon. Swift creates catchy pop songs that crush as a commodity. Wow, that's never happened before. Madonna aged out, Spears was mentally ruined by the experience, Carey was all until she wasn't. (there are obviously plenty of male counterparts I could site, Franz Liszt was doing the Elvis thing in the 1840's. They even made a bad movie starring Roger Daltry about it). Governments will always try to co-opt that kind of popularity ("Born in the USA" anyone?) and art will always exist independently of its' commodity value as a bonus. Our buddy Adorno wasn't wrong, but he committed the "golden age" fallacy in that he saw something "new" in something that stretched far into the past.
